 El Chelín de Plata

　　Como cada vez todo está más globalizado, es muy posible que en el futuro sólo exista una moneda en todo el mundo. ?Cuál crees que será, el euro o el dólar?

　　Un chelín de plata recorría feliz Inglaterra de mano en mano. Era por todos apreciado: el avaro lo retenía en sus bolsillos, el ni?o lo hacía girar entre sus dedos, el jugador lo lanzaba al aire...

　　Cierto día, su último due?o lo metió en el monedero y se embarcó para llegar al NuevoMundo. Pero en tierra firme, lejos de la patria, el chelín no tenía valor. Todo el mundo lo consideraba moneda falsa, y fue de mano en mano, de monedero en monedero, siendo un estorbo. La moneda sentía que su fama y valor habían cambiado de la noche a la ma?ana, y esto le irritaba.

　　Cierto día cayó en manos de una pobre anciana, pero la echaron a patadas del mercado por querer enga?ar al tendero. Pasaron los a?os, y fue a parar a manos de una mujer supersticiosa que la metió en vinagre, le hizo un agujero y se la colgó al cuello para atraer a la buena suerte.

　　Pero la mujer cayó en deudas, echó la culpa a la moneda y la vendió a un coleccionista. ?ste pronto reconoció su gran valor a pesar del agujero, y la colocó en un sitio de honor entre sus más preciadas antigüedades. El chelín de plata por fin ocupó su sitio.

　　En la vida tenemos que pasar por muchas experiencias, algunas no del todo agradables, hasta llegar a nuestro destino. Pero todo tiene su recompensa.

　　A silver shilling happily traveled England from one hand to another. Everyone appreciated it: the greedy man kept it in his pockets, the little boy spun it in his fingers, the gambler threw it into the air...

　　One day its last owner put it in his wallet and sailed to reach the NewWorld. But once on dry land, far from his native country, the shilling was worthless. Every one thought it was counterfeit money, and it went from hand to hand, from wallet to wallet, and was a bother. The coin thought that its fame had changed overnight, and this irritated him.

　　One day he fell into the hands of a poor old lady, but they threw her out of the market for trying to deceive the shopkeeper. The years went by and it ended up in the hands of a superstitious woman who put it in vinager, then made a hole in it and hung it around her neck to bring good luck.

　　But the woman fell into debt, blamed the coin and sold it to a collector. He quickly recognized its great value in spite of the hole and put it in a place of honor among his most prized antiques. The silver shilling finally occupied his place.

　　In life we have to undergo many experiences, some of them not really pleasant, until we fulfil our destiny.But everything has its reward.
